La Tâche
La Tâche is a grand cru in Vosne-Romanée held in its entirety by a single estate. The vineyard covers a little over six hectares on the slope south of Romanée-Conti.
Our range includes wines from La Tâche by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. If you would like to explore Vosne-Romanée further, you will also find Échezeaux, Grands-Échezeaux and Richebourg in our range.
Vineyard and soil
La Tâche lies in Vosne-Romanée, on the mid-slope and directly adjoining Romanée-Conti. The soil consists of limestone with clay, and the slope is gentle and faces east. The vineyard is elongated and sits in a spot that offers both plenty of sun and good drainage.
La Tâche is a monopole: the vineyard is in the hands of a single owner, the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Grape and style
The wine is made from pinot noir and is renowned for its complexity and spicy intensity. Besides red and black fruit, you will often detect spices, flowers and a slight hint of leather. The texture is silky and powerful at the same time, with a long, layered finish.
Compared with Richebourg, it is more muscular and spicier.
Classification and rules
La Tâche has its own grand cru appellation within Vosne-Romanée. The strict rules for grands crus apply to the wine: low yields, exclusively pinot noir and strict selection of the grapes.
Because the vineyard has a single owner, the style is consistent and does not depend on several interpretations.
