Piper Heidsieck
Piper Heidsieck is a wine estate in Champagne. It is the northernmost great wine region of France; the second fermentation in bottle arose here as an answer to the cold winters that halted the first.
A rich history
Piper-Heidsieck is a champagne house with a long and rich history that dates back to 1785. The house was founded by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, who was born into a family of wine merchants in Westphalia, Germany. He moved to France in 1777 and settled in Reims, where he began producing his own champagne.
In 1839, Heidsieck’s nephew, Henri-Guillaume Piper, joined the company, and the name of the house was changed to Piper-Heidsieck. The house quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality champagne and became a favorite of royalty and high society.
What makes Piper-Heidsieck champagne unique?
The house is known for its bold and full-bodied style of champagne, which is the result of its blend of predominantly Pinot Noir grapes from the Montagne de Reims region and Chardonnay grapes from the Côte des Blancs. The house also uses a high percentage of reserve wines in its blends, which adds depth and complexity to its champagnes.
Cuvée Brut
One of Piper-Heidsieck’s most iconic champagnes is the Cuvée Brut, which is a blend of over 100 different wines and is aged for a minimum of two years in the cellar. It is a complex and well-balanced champagne that is perfect for celebrations and special occasions.
Limited edition
The house has also collaborated with famous artists and designers over the years to create limited edition bottles and packaging, which have become collector’s items for champagne enthusiasts and art lovers alike. Today, the estate is owned by the Descours family, who have continued the tradition of producing high-quality champagnes while also innovating and pushing the boundaries of the industry.
