Latricières-Chambertin
Latricières-Chambertin borders Chambertin to the south. The soil is thinner and stonier than that of its neighbour.
Our range includes wines from Latricières-Chambertin by producers including Rossignol-Trapet, Trapet and Camus. If you would like to explore Gevrey-Chambertin further, you will also find Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin in our range.
Vineyard and soil
Latricières-Chambertin lies on the southern side of the grands crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, against the border with Morey-Saint-Denis. The soil is thin and stony, with plenty of limestone and little earth, and the slope here is fairly steep. As a result the vineyard is well drained and warms up quickly.
This is one of the smaller grands crus of the Chambertin family.
Grape and style
The wine is made from pinot noir and is lighter and finer than its great neighbour Chambertin. Expect a taut, elegant style with red fruit, spice, minerality and a fresh acidity. The tannins are firm but fine.
Because of its position and soil it sometimes resembles Clos de la Roche more than Charmes-Chambertin, with more precision and less roundness.
Classification and rules
Latricières-Chambertin is a grand cru with its own appellation, derived from the village commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. Strict rules on yield and ripeness apply, and only pinot noir from the delimited area may carry the name.
Several producers own small plots there, which keeps the total quantity limited and means every bottle carries a clear signature of the estate.
